Townsville Eco Resort understands this principle wholeheartedly and provides an inclusive experience for all guests. From a glamping tent with accessible facilities to ramp-accessible café and a host of other amenities, we want to ensure that everyone feels welcome.

We aim to set an example in the realm of accessible travel. However, we are continuously learning and very much open to feedback as we are creating a fully inclusive environment.

Accessible Glamping Experience

At Townsville Eco Resort, accessibility begins with accommodation. The resort offers a spacious glamping tent with a deck and equipped with a ramp for easy entrance. Inside, guests will find an accessible bathroom with assistance railings, ensuring a comfortable stay.

Café with Ramp Access and Accessible Bathroom

When it’s time to refuel, the Park’s Black Barra Bar & Café is ready to cater to all guests. With ramp access, everyone can enter the café and the deck easily. Inside, an accessible bathroom is available, providing convenience and comfort.

Food Intolerances Catered To

We acknowledge the importance of catering to diverse dietary needs. While it may not be possible to accommodate all food intolerances, the staff at Townsville Eco Resort make every effort to meet guests’ dietary requirements whenever possible. Our menu included vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options.

Accessible Swimming Pool

For those seeking relaxation and recreation, our Park offers a heated spa/swimming pool designed with accessibility in mind. The pool features an access rail and a moulded grab rail encircling the perimeter, allowing guests to enter and exit the water safely. With a shallow end at 1.45m and a step-in entry, as well as a deep end at 2m, the pool caters to guests of varying abilities. Please note the pool has a deck around entry point of approximately 15cm high.

Reception and Amenities

Our reception doorway is wheelchair accessible, with a 15cm step leading to the deck outside the office. The reception desk is designed to accommodate guests in a seated position, ensuring easy interaction. While the amenities block is currently ambulant in size, future plans include the implementation of grab rails for enhanced accessibility. A concrete pathway surrounds the perimeter, facilitating easy navigation.

Ensuite Sites and Camp Kitchen

Ensuite sites at the resort offer step entry, though some feature concrete ramp access, providing options for guests with mobility challenges. The camp kitchen features six park bench-style tables with wheelchair access at either end. The BBQ is designed for cooking from both sides, allowing flexibility, and the sink area has no under bench, enabling wheelchair access.

Assistance Dogs Welcome

Townsville Eco Resort warmly welcomes accredited assistance dogs, recognising their essential role in supporting individuals with disabilities.

Accessible Roads and Undulating Areas

Throughout the Park, roads are either bitumen or have a blue metal road base, ensuring smooth access for guests. While it’s important to note that some parts of the park are undulating, we strive to maintain an accessible environment for all visitors.
